N25 - Sarsfield Road Bandon Road Interchanges:

Introduction  Current Stage  Publications  Photos

The proposed N25 South Ring Road, Sarsfield Road to Bandon Road, Road Improvement Scheme includes the grade separation of the Bandon Road and Sarsfield Road Roundabouts, the repositioning of the Sarsfield Road Roundabout, the construction of parallel link roads between the Roundabouts, slip roads to and from the SouthRing Road and all ancillary works associated therewith.

The proposed Scheme traverses the Cork City/County Boundary and extends from Pouladuff to Togher, Doughcloyne, Wilton, Bishopstown and Ardarostig. When completed it will link the Ballincollig Bypass with the Kinsale Road Interchange Scheme completed in October 2006.

Due to the proximity of the two roundabouts, an east-bound diverge and a west-bound merge will not be possible at Sarfield Road Roundabout. To facilitate all movements, two link roads will be constructed between the two roundabouts parallel to the mainline.

The existing pedestrian/cycleway on the northern boundary of the Scheme will be retained and a similar facility will be put in place on the southern side of the road. Both pedestrian bridges will be demolished as part of the works and crossing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists will be at at-grade signal controlled crossings.
